We Need Gorillas!

We are going to need a couple of gorillas, or at least, individuals with gorilla hands to lift and hang this mural in about another month. We are very close to completing panel 5!

These pictures are from the mosaic weekend in September, as well as yesterday’s all-day mosaic affair at University Presbyterian Church in Austin.

I am ever-astonished at the power in random people (probably 200, so far) working bit-by-bit and staying at the job over a long period of time. Some people have been dedicated mosaic-makers, spending hours, week, months, and years on this job. Others have contributed materials, or have done walk-by placing and gluing on their way to another activity.

Enjoy!

The mosaic workers who have been steadily working on this panel feel an attachment to these characters. Not only have we been making and re-making them from tile shards, but the characters have been revealing themselves to us. There is a reciprocity between the creators and the created.

You could be one of the lucky ones working on panel 6.
